International counsel · By introduction

Counsel for entering unfamiliar markets.

Diplomatic Advisory advises governments, institutions, and enterprises on arriving well in markets where they have no footing: the relationships to form, the protocol to follow, and the processes to clear.

Most clients arrive through an introduction. A direct note is equally welcome.

An institution built on relationships.

Our advisors have served at senior levels of international diplomacy. We prepare clients for rooms they have not entered before: whom to approach, in what order, under which rules, and with what standing. The bench is small by design; the network is not.

You will find no client names or case studies on this site. That is policy, not oversight. Specifics are discussed in conversation, once we know who is asking.

  • Governments

Sovereign actors seeking partners, capital, and standing beyond their own borders.

  • Institutions

Non‑governmental organizations carrying a mandate into places where formal process alone opens nothing.

  • Enterprises

Companies entering markets where the decisive relationships are not listed anywhere.

  • Diplomatic protocol

The conduct of official engagement: form, precedence, whom to address, and in what order.

  • Regulatory affairs

Licensing, approvals, and government process in jurisdictions where the written rule is only part of the picture.

  • Commercial advisory

Market entry, partner selection, and negotiation support for enterprises operating far from home.

Further practices open selectively, as our clients’ matters require.

From first note to closed matter.

  1. An introduction

Most clients are introduced by someone we both know. A written note serves equally well.

  2. A private conversation

We hear the matter in confidence, and we say plainly whether we are the right counsel.

  3. A defined mandate

Scope, counterparts, and terms of discretion are settled before any work begins.

  4. Counsel in the room

We advise, accompany, and open the way until the matter concludes.

No two mandates are alike. The discretion is identical in every one.

Retained for judgment, not for information.

Discretion first
We publish little, name no clients, and disclose less. Matters arrive and conclude without a public trace.
Human judgment
Counsel is carried by people who have sat in the rooms we prepare you for. Technology stays in our back office; it never sits at the table.
Few engagements
We accept a small number of matters at a time, and we decline more than we take on.

Start with a note.

Write to our lead advisor with who you are and what you intend to enter. Every serious inquiry receives a reply.

Discretion applies from the first line, in both directions.
